YouTube To Reinstate Trump Once ‘Risk Of Violence Has Decreased’

However, Trump supporters are not advised to get excited just yet
Thursday, YouTube’s chief executive officer announced that they intend to reinstate former President Donald Trump’s channel once an “elevated risk of violence” associated with him has decreased.

The Google-owned video-sharing platform first implemented a temporary suspension of Trump’s account on Jan. 12, after the riot at the U.S. Capitol.
This suspension has become indefinite ever since.
However, now, the suggestion by YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki might be something huge.
She is offering clues as to when Trump will be permitted to return to the platform, claiming that it will happen once she and other company leaders assess that the risk level has receded.
During an event hosted by the Atlantic Council, she said:
“We will lift the suspension of the Donald Trump channel when we determine the risk of violence has decreased.”
It is reported that YouTube will rely on various indicators to determine the level of violence, as well as statements by government officials, law enforcement preparedness, and the presence of violent rhetoric on its own platform.
According to Wojcicki, the recent warning from Capitol Police about a potential militia attack on the Capitol on or around March 4, leading to the adjournment of the House, is an instance of an “elevated risk of violence.”
She added:
“We will turn the account back on, but when we see reduced law enforcement in capitals in the U.S. and fewer [threat] warnings. Those would be signals to us [that it is] safe to turn the channel back on.”
Yet, Trump’s supporters should not get too excited, even though these statements indicate that the company is planning to end the censorship of Trump soon.
On the same day as Wojcicki’s statement, YouTube entirely wiped videos of Trump’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference from its platform and suspended at least one popular channel, Right Side Broadcasting Network, that decided to publish it.
Such actions do not indicate that YouTube is warming to the idea of welcoming Trump back on its platform.
YouTube may plan to string along Trump’s suspension for a long time to come and, with the latest statement just set up a framework allowing them to do so.
