Ted Cruz amendment triggers Democrats
The Senator’s amendment to the proposed coronavirus relief package stops illegal aliens from getting stimulus checks.

Senate Democrats discussed the $1.9 relief package without any GOP presence. It is going back to the House for approval if senators pass the legislation.
The package contains $1,400 stimulus checks that may go to illegal aliens if not stopped. Cruz is trying to prevent illegal aliens from getting these stimulus checks. This would save our country about $8 million.
“Not only does this COVID bill fail to address the real needs of the American people who are suffering, but it hands out billions in taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants,” Cruz said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News.
“Congress should come together to pass my amendment to stop this,” Cruz said. “We need to stand for the American people, get our kids back to school, and reopen our small businesses.”
The current package allows illegal aliens to secure subsidies for COBRA healthcare premiums.
In February, Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Todd Young (R-IN) had a big say in the passing of a budget amendment. Of course, they were supported by eight swing state Democrats. In this way, stimulus checks can’t be included in the relief package.
