The unknown juror talked with some reporters and told them that Jussie sealed his fate with his attitude in the testimony.
She gave many exciting nuggets about what happened behind the curtains in the jury chamber, explaining the strange nonguilty of the sixth charge.
Bizpacreview reported that one anonymous juror said that the jury believed he was guilty immediately. The poor testimony and attitude revealed everything.
“It was not evenly split, but there were some doubters.” The juror declared.
“All thought [they] were doing Jussie a favor when they chose to convict the actor of five, rather than six, counts of disorderly conduct,” the juror added.
“We were told it was an aggravated battery because he said they were wearing a mask,” she added. “in all [of Smollett’s] accounts of what happened, he mentioned a mask.”
The juror also noted that Special prosecutor Dan Webb was plodding in his claims, ensuring the case against Smollett was seamless.
The defense consisted of character witnesses and three and half hours of direct examination. The lawyer didn’t offer a motive why the brothers could possibly be lying.
“It wasn’t an easy decision. You’ve got the mother sitting there. You feel bad. We didn’t know what the penalty would be. Are we sending this guy to jail?” she commented. “I just hope that [Smollett and his attorneys] know that we went in there with an open mind.”
“I listened to both sides. We wanted to make sure that those who had doubts didn’t feel pressured,” she said.
Jussie Smollett will appeal this verdict and is confident that the conviction will be overturned.
