Markle made comments about the Queen and her family. According to Markle, the royal family was concerned about Archie’s skin color.
When she was pregnant with her son, there were “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.” That’s how she told the story. Markle even contemplated suicide after marrying Prince Harry.
Williams has won 23 Grand Slam titles. She said her “friend” Markle had taught her “what it means to be truly noble.” Williams said she felt Markle’s pain as she lived with “oppression” inside the royal palace.
“I know firsthand the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of colour to minimize us, to break us down and demonize us,” Williams wrote on Twitter.
“We must recognize our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism.
“The mental health consequences of systemic oppression and victimization are devastating, isolating, and all too often lethal.”
