Crenshaw didn’t literally say their names, but everyone knew he was speaking about them. He targeted the people linked to the Freedom Caucus.
Crenshaw described these Republicans as performers and grifters. The Lincoln Project used the clip to blast at the Freedom Caucus and Republicans.

Dr. Gosar commented: “We are battling commies and those destroying America- @DanCrenshawTX is an ally we will not shit-talk him nor take leftist provocation to divide us. On behalf of the freedom caucus, I say Dan is entitled to free opinions, and we will not melt, and we will work together where we can.”
Who gave this idea of performers? Dan invented it himself, and what was his inspiration?

It seems that Dan’s got his inspiration from Paul Ryan.
National Pulse shared that Crenshaw talked at one campaign event hosted by Texas Liberty Alliance PAC, and he criticized the members of the House Freedom Caucus as performers and grifters. He counted more than 30 conservative members.
“There are two types of members of Congress: there’s performance artists and legislators. Now the performance artists are the ones that get all the attention. The ones you think are more conservative because they know how to say slogans real well. They know how to recite the lines that our voters want to hear,” Crenshaw said.
In an episode where his friend, Mike Gallagher, attended, we can see that they talked about whether the elected officials have to pay the role of social media content creator.
“Paul Ryan and I had this discussion like he divides people up up here into legislators and performers, and the truth is is that you have to have a foot in each category to effectively communicate because whether we like it or not, America is a giant reality TV show and people want to be entertained to an extent,” he started.
“That’s easy to do because it’s easy in the conservative side to just sort of list slogans that we know work like lock her up,” he says before mimicking a cheering audience and adding, “it just works, right.”
“I can’t claim that I’m not a performer. I jump out of airplanes in campaign videos. Obviously, I’ve done that stuff because it’s fun, but then you owe people a serious discussion,” he concluded.
