Lindsey Graham, House Republicans Promote Amnesty For Illegal Aliens Amid Border Crisis

Lindsey Graham is on the move

Graham and a group of House Republicans led by Rep. Maria Salazar (R-Fl) decided to promote their amnesty plan for illegal aliens thriving in our country. This happens in the middle of an unexpected border crisis.

Salazar unveiled the amnesty plan that would give green cards to illegals related to Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and offers work visas to 11-22 million illegals in the country.

Here’s the list of GOP lawmakers supporting the plan:

  • Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
  • Rep. David Valado (R-CA)
  • Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL)
  • Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI)
  • Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT)
  • Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT)
  • Rep. John Curtis (R-UT)
  • Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL)
  • Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA)
  • Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY)

The “Dignity Proposal” gives legal resident status to 1.3-3.5 million illegals enrolled for DACA. So, these people can now get their green cards and become US citizens.

Other illegals will be able to get 10-year work visas after passing a criminal background check. They will have to pay taxes and take our jobs. These aliens won’t be able to get “means-tested benefits or entitlements” and will have to pay a fine.

After these 10 years, illegals would be able to go through a five-year program. They can get a green card by learning English and taking civics courses. Once they get the green card, they can become naturalized US citizens.

“They came here as kids,” Graham said of many illegal aliens. “If you told them to go back to their country, they don’t know where you’re talking about. You’ve had people who have lived here for decades that have worked, hard assimilated into the country, and there’s a place for them under our terms.”

The “Dignity Proposal” includes “mandatory E-Verify, funding for a ‘full border infrastructure system,’ asylum reform, and increased inferior immigration enforcement.”

RJ Hauman with the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) said that Salazar’s amnesty is a “poorly-timed proposal with even worse marketing.” As you may know, federal immigration officers apprehended about 100,000 border crossers in February. That’s a 170 percent increase compared to last year. About 17 million Americans are unemployed.

Hauman said:

“Now is the time for Republicans in both chambers to unify against amnesty bills rather than introducing their own proposals. A large-scale amnesty for illegal aliens would be bad policy even under the best of circumstances. Amnesty under the guise of ‘dignity’ in the midst of a full-blown border crisis is an affront to commonsense and not just Republican voters, but the American people as a whole.”

In the US Senate, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) proposed a similar amnesty that would give US citizenship to 1.5 million illegals.

Our country gives out over 1.2 million green cards every year. About 70 percent of these are awarded to the relatives of naturalized US citizens. Another 1.4 million foreigners can get job visas every year.
