Biden talked with Dr. Swati Mohan who happens to be an Indian-American scientist. Mohan had a huge role in helping land the rover on Mars.
“It’s amazing. Indian of decent Americans are taking over the country,” Biden said. “You, my vice president, my speechwriter Vinay.”
Kamala Harris’ mother immigrated to America from India. She is not the only Biden-related person of Indian origin. The President’s speechwriter Vinay Reddy is an Indian-African. He comes from Ohio.
Biden has been making these awkward remarks for quite some time. Is he unhappy with the fact that the population of Indian-Americans is on the rise?
In 2006, the President talked about the increased flow of Indian immigrants into Delaware.
“In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India,” he said. “You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”
In his video conversation with the NASA team, Biden lost track of his instructions. Again.
“Am I supposed to speak now?” he asked and members of his staff couldn’t ignore the confusion on his face.
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Director Michael Watkins kept talking and Biden was just looking around.
“Now am I supposed to speak? Or is Swati supposed to say something? I was told I was supposed to speak with Swati,” he said.
Watkins spoke to the President, and Biden pulled out a big grin.
“You restored a dose of confidence in the American people. They’re beginning to wonder about us,” Biden said.
Biden praised the NASA team for their hard work and incredible mission.
“You did it the most American way, you believed in science, you believed in hard work and you believed there wasn’t a darned thing you couldn’t do if you put your minds together,” he said.
The President recalled hearing a “head of state” who claimed that the US had no more power to do great things because of their inability o fight COVID-19.
“We can land a rover on Mars, we can beat a pandemic, and with science, hope, and vision there’s not a damn thing we can’t do as a country,” he said.
At the end of the video conversation, the President accepted the invitation to visit the NASA headquarters in the near future.
“I’m like a poor relative, Mike. When I’m invited, I show up, so be careful. You know the poor relatives show up and they stay longer than they’re supposed to,” he joked. “I’m one of those kind of guys.”
Poor? So, he is mocking poor people now.
