FBI Releases New Video On Capitol Riot

On Thursday, the FBI released new videos of the attack on the Capitol on Jan.6, demanding from the public for help identifying rioters who attacked police officers during the insurrection.

In the footage, assailants attack officers with fists, clubs, unknown chemical sprays and even a thing that looks like a baton stun gun or cattle prod.

One video shows a person in a crowd fighting with law enforcement while wielding an apparent electroshock device. The man jabs the baton-like device at officers over and over again as it emits a loud buzz and bright flashes.

“These individuals are seen on video committing egregious crimes against those who have devoted their lives to protecting the American people,” said in a video statement Steven D’Antuono, head of the FBI field office in Washington.

D’Antuono added that more than 300 people accused of taking part in the riot had been arrested by the bureau, including more than 65 who have been accused of assaulting law enforcement officers.

“We’re grateful to the members of the public who have already been a tremendous help in these investigations,” he said. “We know it can be a difficult decision to report information about family, friends, or coworkers, but it is the right thing to do and the FBI continues to need your help to identify these suspects.”

The new videos come days after two men were arrested and charged with assaulting police officers for reportedly spraying a group of law enforcement during the riot with an unknown chemical irritant. As charging documents note, U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who passed away on Jan. 7, was among the officers who had been attacked by the two men.

The cause of Sicknick’s death has still not been revealed by the authorities, and they have not alleged that the two men that the police arrested this week were responsible.
