Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA) is a clear example of this. He was caught maskless and shirtless riding a camel in Qatar. Swalwell is one of the many people who scolded people for not following COVID-19 guidelines.
As you may be guessing, the adventure in Qatar is funded by US-Qatar Business Council. It’s a special interest group that spent over $84,000 on the trip.
Congressman Ruben Gallego’s then-fiance Sydney Barron Gallego shared the photos on Instagram. The photos are deleted now.
Democrat Reps and their spouses enjoyed their time in Qatar despite the recommendations from the CDC. People, including fully vaccinated Americans, were told to wear masks outside. The information was confirmed by Business Insider.
The Washington Examiner reported that the trip to Qatar was approved by the House Ethics Committee. It also included “personal time.”
“House rules dictate that private groups cannot fund entertainment activities during such excursions. However, family members are allowed to join in these trips.” – the Examiner said.
Because sometimes Democratic congressmen need to ride shirtless on camels through Qatar during a pandemic on trips funded by special interest groups. (And yes, we have the photos.)
