Andrew Cuomo, New York Governor, faces impeachment suggestions for covering up coronavirus deaths in nursing homes.

Cuomo is also accused of sexual harassment, and his administration is charged with mishandling the pandemic. And the primary focus is on the order that they gave to the nursing homes to accept the covid positive patient.

The scandal about the nursing homes’ order to accept positive patients from hospitals and numbers manipulation, hiding the number of dead people due to COVID-19, is documented.

Maria McFadden Maffucci for National Review is the first person who pointed out the executive order on April 10.

With this order, the residential group homes for people with disabilities must accept positive coronavirus patients from the hospital. Cuomo’s order for the nursing homes is rescinded, but this remains in effect. The results from this order are disappointing.

Disability and Health Journal published a study in June, and they cited McFadden Maffucci. People located at these facilities are twice as likely to have severe consequences, including death from the pandemic.

“Circumstances and decisions made early in the pandemic may have contributed to the higher case rate of people living with IDD in residential group homes. Those who tested positive for COVID-19 or who had presumed infection  were required to return to their residential setting with instructions to sequester,”

According to a Fox News report, around 552 people from homes for people with disabilities died due to coronavirus.
Also, in these institutions live more than 34,552 people, and 6,900 people have been infected.

“These group homes were required to have a process in place to expedite the return of asymptomatic residents from the hospital, who were deemed appropriate for return to their OPWDD certified residence.”

“In other words, OPWDD providers could accept individuals only if they could safely accommodate them in the group home.”

The agency spokesman said that those people who couldn’t be safely accommodated stayed at hospitals. Some were served in one of the over 100 temporary sites established for COVID-19 recovery efforts in partnership with OPWDD provider agencies.”

New York State Republicans declared that they started an investigation on Cuomo’s order. They asked about the latest data about the pandemic deaths and infections among New York’s IDD community.

Senator Mike Martucci declared:

“I am deeply concerned that the April 10 order from OPWDD needlessly put some of our most vulnerable citizens in harm’s way. Close on the heels of the deadly nursing home order from the Department of Health (DOH), this order appears both dangerous and tone-deaf. Transparency has been a major failing of this administration at all levels,”

People who live in these group homes prioritize vaccines. Those with an intellectual and developmental disability can receive a vaccine from February 15.
