Commentary: Why won’t Dr. Fauci speak up about Gov. Cuomo’s ongoing nursing home scandal?

Dr. Anthony Fauci used his opportunity to troll Donald Trump

“The idea that you can get up here and … let the science speak, it is somewhat of a liberating feeling,” Fauci said.

Well, he wasn’t really “liberated” when asked to comment on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s role in the deaths of many long-term residents. He even lied about it.

Cuomo and Melissa DeRosa admitted that data on the number of death cases were underreported by 6,000 cases. They were trying to minimize potential fallout in the media.

“I can’t,” Fauci said. “I mean, I’m sorry. I’m really — I’m honestly not trying to evade your question, but I’m not really sure of all the details of that, and I think if I make a statement, it probably could either be incorrect or taken out of context. So, I prefer not to comment on that.”

That’s pretty awkward.

How can the man say he doesn’t know what is happening in his home state? Was Cuomo really following guidelines?

Fauci supported Cuomo in July, saying that New York battled COVID-19 correctly. Really?

In May, Cuomo’s brother, CNN host Chris Cuomo, received phone calls from Fauci after he got coronavirus. These calls were pretty common, and Fauci said he has known the Cuomo family since Chris “was almost a kid.”

We remember Fauci throwing a hissy fit when Trump a campaign ad featuring Fauci’s words.

“In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate,” Fauci complained. “The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context.”

We can’t really say Fauci is the right person to make the comments. Double standards, anyone?

Cuomo called New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim to threaten Kim’s career for blasting him in public.

“He tried to pressure me to issue a statement, and it was a very traumatizing experience,” Kim said, adding that Cuomo told him that “we’re in this business together and we don’t cross certain lines and he said I hadn’t seen his wrath and that he can destroy me.”
