The Star Tribune shared: “Video showed that Floyd appeared animated, a bit unsteady on his feet as he ambled about Cup Foods and eventually bought cigarettes with a suspected fake $20 bill,”

Christopher Martin, a clerk, testified that Floyd struggled to speak, and according to him, Floyd looked like he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
During his testimony, Minnesota Asst. Attorney General Matthew Frank said: “When you were communicating with him, what was his demeanor like?”
To which, Martin replied: “When I asked him if he played baseball, he went on to respond. But it kind of took him a little longer to get to what he was trying to say. So, it appeared that he was high.”
From the medical examiner report made in June 2020, we realized that Floyd struggled with numerous health problems.
NPR shared some information regarding this issue.
“A full autopsy report on George Floyd, the man who died after being restrained by Minneapolis police last month, reveals that he was positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19,”
“The 20-page report also indicates that Floyd had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death, although the drugs are not listed as the cause.”
Autopsies shared different results regarding the cause of Floyd’s death. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office’s autopsy report showed that he died due to “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.”
However, another independent examined that the Floyd family hired shared that Floyd died due to “asphyxiation from sustained pressure.”
Floyd’s precise cause of death is crucial for Derek Chauvin’s trial. He is arrested because he kneeled on Floyd’s neck right before his death. The attorneys who defend Chauvin say that Floyd died because of drug overuse, and the complications came because of his numerous health issues, including a heart condition.
Officer Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder, as well as second-degree manslaughter.
