According to the statement by the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human rights on Friday, citing unconfirmed local reports, the strikes killed at least 22 people.
Yet, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said the bombing in eastern Syria was carefully calibrated, “proportionate” and “defensive.”

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States on Thursday carried out an airstrike in Syria against a structure belonging to what it said were Iran-backed militia, two officials told Reuters.
The officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the strike was approved by President Joe Biden.”
