8 Republicans joined Democrats in the passing of the most recent bill
The bill passed the House Thursday and Democrats did their thing once again.

According to CNN, the eight Republicans are:
- Vern Buchanan of Florida
- Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania
- Maria Salazar of Florida
- Andrew Garbarino of New York
- Chris Smith of New Jersey
- Fred Upton of Michigan
- Carlos Gimenez of Florida
- Adam Kinzinger of Illinois
Vox said that Fitzpatrick, Smith, and Upton, voted for the gun control and even “co-sponsored it.”
H.R.8 passed the House by a vote of 227-203 Thursday morning. It “expands point-of-sale background checks” on purchase of firearm sales to cover private transactions too.
According to Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), the new universal checks would later turn into a national gun registry.
The Wall Street Journal reported on the case. Good said, “This bill creates a de facto gun registry by involving the federal government in every gun transfer, including private transfers and gifts, or else how will we enforce these requirements?”
