Representative Mayra Flores, R-Texas, was elected to Congress during a special election and stated that Nancy Pelosi elbowed her daughter.

A representative for Pelosi stated that the House Speaker tried to move the girl so she would be on camera.

“It’s sad to see ‘news outlets’ that know better misrepresent the Speaker’s effort to ensure Rep. Flores’ daughters wouldn’t be hidden behind her in all of the photos of such an important moment for their family,” spokesman Drew Hammill wrote.

“And here’s more footage of the Speaker graciously greeting Rep. Flores’ children and telling them about the room they are in.” he wrote in the follow-up tweet.

“I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her,” Flores wrote, posting a video of the incident. “She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a queen. No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!”

Flores won the election by beating her Democratic opponent by 8 points. The 34th district has been considered Democratic for quite a long time. Now, analysts stated that Flores’ victory was a really bad sign for the Democrats.

One AP analysis shared, “More than 1 million voters across 43 states have switched to the Republican Party over the last year, according to voter registration data analyzed by The Associated Press,” wrote the article. “The previously unreported number reflects a phenomenon that is playing out in virtually every region of the country — Democratic and Republican states along with cities and small towns — in the period since President Joe Biden replaced former President Donald Trump.”
